Went there once late last year 2007, and it was not bad, went back tonight, and it WAS bad! Horrible sushi, fishy tasting crab meat, and then completely tasteless shrimp tempura: tasted like they bought the shrimp tempura at Costco and deep fried them. NO FLAVOR! Lobster roll, NO FLAVOR! It was bad. I told the waiter that the food was lifeless, without flavor, and didn't taste like anything. He shrugged his shoulders. Typical minimum wage mentality. No more Sushi Dan for us. There are better sushi places around than Sushi Darn.

Pros: Parking

Cons: Flavorless, lackluster sushi and tempura

This place is a small chain throughout LA and it is okay sushi, but pretty much the same quality sushi you can get everywhere else. It is a trendy scene to grab sushi and can accommodate large parties which is rare for lots of sushi houses, but it can get pricey VERY quickly and the sushi isn't that amazing. Also, be sure to check your bill and your credit card statement later on as well. Two of my friends have been overcharged by this place and then gave them attitude when they called Sushi Dan's to fix the charge. Overall, a fun, trendy sushi place to take your friends but not the most authentic.

Good bye Sushi Dan. A group us from 16 to 20 people have been going to Sushi Dan for about a year now and last week we’ve decided that we won’t go back to Sushi Dan ever again. We’ve been going there and spent hundred of dollars on birthday parties...yeas… hundreds of $$$ because we drink like a fish. But last week, a group of us went there for birthday party and guess what?? Food came out slow, servers were rude and addition to that drinks were terrible.. I mean TERRIBLE. Who would want to sit and drink warm Martinis? A.M.F taste nothing like A.M.F. Sorry to say that both the quality of food and drinks went down hills. This is not the first time it has happened to us. Not worth going back. Also be careful about the tipping. Severs will make you pay double the gratuity if you don’t pay attention to it. Last time I paid with my CC and sever didn’t show me the breakdown until I asked for it. What a place.

Pros: music

Cons: drinks , service

Not a bad place to have a drink, they were decent. But for the food go somewhere else. Sushi was not over priced about $12 a roll, but i spent the night heaving in my toilet that was not what i was looking for, all i had was tuna sashimi and a spicy tuna roll, nothing too exotic. the real thing that got me is we were a party of 2 and our bill came to $85, not cheep but still not the most expensive that i had seen. i paid by CC and when the check came to sign they did not have the itemized bill, they kept that. i like to just double the tax for tip, lazy what can i say. but then i asked for it and 5 min later they brought it back out. low and behold they had automatically added an 18% gratuity. i thought that i was being generous with my 15% with the service that was being served at a glacial pace. All and all had i not asked for the itemized bill i would have tipped them another 15%. CHECK YOUR BILL if you dine here.

Pros: bar is open till 2am

Cons: poor food, staff will rob you blind, do not tip it is included

Sushi Dan is the best for the price...or for any price in my opinion, although it differes in the style of restaurant and food from say, Koi. Rolls are huge and fresh. Sushi and sashimi are excellent quality. Go to the one on ventura if you want a more low key vibe. Great place to kick back a huge amount of saki.

Pros: large portions, creative rolls

Cons: none at all, ever

I'm not typically into sushi (Midwesterner still adopting this Cali favorite) but this place was pretty good. My friend ordered the items including Tuna, Spicy Tuna, California Roll, and Whitefish -- the Spicy Tuna was great, the rest were good/average. The Whitefish was a little hot. Overall though, a good meal and attentive service with regular drink refill stop-bys. Only when it came to bill time did the waiter seem to disappear, but that might have been cuz we were in active conversation. The atmosphere is great for a Tuesday night. Quiet, with well-spaced patrons. Overall, I'd recommend.

Pros: Good atmosphere

Cons: Parking sucked

I went here the first time for my dad's birthday... their specialty plates and sashimi were excellent. Our whole family are sushi fanatics and haven't found a place this great in a long time. However, I've gotta say that the service was horrible. I can't fault the restaurant for this because I'm sure it's only this one waiter. One would think that if the waiter didn't speak english too well he wouldn't mind repeating the order. But No. He seemed annoyed. When he did repeat it, of course he got it wrong. Then when the food came out, he still got it wrong! There must have been some mix up with a different table because he kept bringing the wrong stuff. Of course there was no apology! At one point he came to our table with a glass of wine and couldn't get it through his head that no one had ordered it. At the end of the meal we were still quite satisfied however felt that the waiter did not deserve a good tip... but of course there was already a 18% charge. Now thats about a $50 tip for incompetence!!! I only hope that others have complained and something will be done about that guy.... EXCELLENT FOOD THOUGH!!

Pros: Food, ambience

Cons: SERVICE!!!
