Through massage, I typically seek two pretty basic results: relaxation and the loosening of tight muscles. I went to Miriam on a similar quest, with an added complication of back pain that another massage therapist had been unable to remedy. Miriam came through for me on every account. She is wonderfully knowledgeable about a wide variety of massage techniques, and she was able to adapt her approach to what my body needed. That knowledge combined with her intuitive sense for healing made her the perfect medicine for me. I left my appointment relaxed and with looser muscles, and also feeling much more deeply healed. Thank you, Miriam.

Miriam is a wonderful massage therapist. She has a true intuitive understanding of the needs of the body. I felt completely cared for and received a wonderful hour on her table. I have had many massages in my life and would rank my time with Miriam as among the best. Many thanks!

I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life. Miriam cancelled my appointment the day of the massage without any explaination. Since, it was being paid for with a gift cert, Miriam agreed to refund me the amount of the cert. since I was unable to rescedule. This all seemed very kind and ethical. Let me emphasis "seemed kind and ethical." Miriam did not send my refund when she said she would, nor did she return phone calls. Understand, I was nothing but understanding, untill this started to drag on for weeks. I finally left another message, saying I would have to result to other collection methods if she wouldn't return my calls, and guess what? She actually called back! She said that she had been sick, and would put the check in the mail the following Monday. I said I understood, but even a phone call to let me know what was going on would have been greatly appreciated. Well, the following week, still no check until Friday. I thought, OK better late than never. I opened the envelope and she had only refunded HALF OF THE PROMISED AMOUNT! I have called her several times since, as have my friends who purchased the gift certificate, and she won't answer the calls, or respond in any way. I have dealt with many professionals in the healing arts, and I have never run across someone with this type of poor morals and ethics. I consider her acts to be very dishonest, and all of this would have not happened if she had just been true to her word. I trust people (especially in this type of field) to speak and honor the truth. This was absolutely unbelievable.

My girlfriends and I all had a wonderful experience here! Wonderful Massage and exfoliation. Not to be missed!

Pros: Wonderful Staff! No hassle parking and talk about the red carpet!

Cons: None!

Miriam is without a doubt the best I have ever experienced! My husband and I have homes in Los Angeles as well as Portland, and although we have been treated by some of the most famous and highly recognized professionals in Los Angeles, we ONLY go to Miriam in Portland. She treated my husband for back and neck problems that he had experienced for years and those other famous folks couldn't give him much relief (and what relief he did get didn't last for more than a day or two). Under Miriam's care, he has been pain-free for many months and still travels to come see Miriam about once a month for maintenance. In my case, I had been experiencing knee and hip pain for almost 20 years and was told to get surgery. Once Miriam started working on me, the results were nothing short of a miracle. She also provides great insight into the physical causes of a person's pain (comments about my incorrect posture or seating position) that make a huge difference in maintaining my well-being. What Miriam has isn't just a learned skill. It's an art as well as a gift. Thank you, Miriam!! Keith and I love you!

Cons: Unfortunately, there is only one Miriam! She can't be duplicated!

I see Miriam approximately once a month due to my grueling work schedule (i.e. 12-14 hours shifts on nights), which results in a highly stressed body and frequent back pain/discomfort. I have been seeing Miriam since I moved back to the Portland Metro area (from Boston) in 2003. Miriam has very gifted hands and has the ability to find my problem areas right away. She knows how to relax my muscles and is very attentive to my needs. Additionally, she has created a comfortable and inviting environment at her new location. I would recommend Miriam to anyone with chronic back problems or to anyone interested in a relaxing afternoon or evening away from work or stress.

Pros: Always a great experience.

Cons: I wish I could visit Healing Tree Massage more often.

Miriam & Elizabeth provided perfect massages for me & my husband. The room was cozy, warm & comforting - the street sounds magically disappeared during our session. The heated bed & hot stones were delightful but their skills were remarkable. They were very attentive to the places we discussed beforehand - each of us had a slightly different experience based on our needs. Their building is just a few blocks from the streetcar route, and very near great shops & restaurants.

Pros: specialized massage, comforting atmosphere, good location

I've just returned from my first massage with Miriam at the Healing Tree Massage. The massage was so relaxing that I'm surprised that I can raise my fingers to type. Miriam is a gifted therapist and has created a beautiful, warm and comforting environment for her practice. She takes care to heated massage bed, hot stones (I think) to warm her hands during the massage and a hot towel wrap for the head and face. This was a Christmas present from my boyfriend. I've already gushed to him about this being the "best present ever"!

Pros: Excellent massage, Knowledgable therapis, Beautiful studio

Cons: I'm addicted

A friend of mine and I were looking for a "girls night out" and we wanted to get a massage and go out for dinner. I was going through IVF and I hoped the healing effect of massage might help. I loved how Miriam was available at the last minute, and in the evening, AND to massage two people! She can usually have another therapist there, for couples, but so spontaneously her other person wasn't available that night. She did a wonderful job all by herself though, much to my surprise. At one point we discovered she was holding onto a bar - attached to the ceiling I guess - and walking on our backs! It was great! She also seemed quite knowledgeable and insightful about healing (also did some reflexology), and concentrated on my getting pregnant. I DID get pregnant! :-)

Pros: excellent massage, cozy,intimate,ambi..., good location

Cons: $75.00/hr (single)
