not exactly the greatest movie ever, but it was somewhat entertaining. a little bit below the actors' potential.

Disappointing all around…there were a few good parts, far and in-between…is not worth seeing in the theaters

Pros: A little laughter

Cons: A few tears (Not as funny as they thought it was going to be)

this movie was strange. I laughed a couple times, mostly at Tom Cruise's character! It was better than I expected it to be, but I went with very low expectations!

AWESOME!!! This is THE funniest movie I've EVER seen! Everyone I've talked to that have seen it thought it was hilarious! This is one to own.

Pros: it was great!

Sorry, I just didn't get it. Maybe it was the hype from some people that was so funny. I just thought it was generally stupid. I'm not generally an uptight person, and the political correctness doesn't bother me (I like Chris Rock's humor, so believe me, I'm not PC). I just didn't think it was that funny. It had moments. But like the Tom Cruise character, while he was funny, I kept waiting for some sort of twist to make it funny. His character was obnoxious, but we already know there are people like that in the world. But the ridiculous dancing...was he going to get caught? Was it going to be revealed that someone was recording his dancing and blackmail him on the Internet for it? Nope. Just pretty decent but awkward dancing from a creepy guy. Whatever. I suspect I just wasn't in the right mood when I saw it. I can't honestly recommend it to anyone at the theater. Maybe on DVD.

Pros: Love the actors and some of the humor

Cons: Not enough humor to carry the movie

This movie comes nowhere close to living up to its advertising hype. Some of the funniest material appeared before the opening credits as supposed advertising for products which eventually appeared within the movie. After that, the writers obviously assumed a teen-aged audience that would think that toilet humor and excessive profanity are funny. As a Vietnam veteran, I accept that foul language is common in the military, but I do not think it is entertaining. Overall, I preferred Wall-e.

Pros: Balboa Theater is great - one of the few old independents left.

Cons: They failed to use the good components available, and settled for a juvenile embarassment.

Best comedy produced in two years (I've seem them all). The cameos and breadth of talent in this movie alone make this worth the trip out. Yes, Stiller is becoming a caricature of himself (but in Hollywood the big draw actors fall prey to this as a rule). Yes, Jack Black continues to keep a tight-lid on his talent and goes the easy route here. Still not reasons to pass this movie up because there are many other gems in this one . Judging from the reaction of fellow moviegoers I'm definitely in the majority here. This is a 'laugh out loud movie' and do not let the borderline-rediculous, politically-correct commentary of the pathetic dissuade you from this cinematic treat.

Pros: Cast, Pace, Humor

Cons: Jack Black weaker than his potential....

This movie has been in Ben Stiller's head for more than a decade and now that it's finally here, it's an inevitable disappointment. It is obvious from the beginning that it's one of those movies that's really fun and entertaining for the actors to make it, but that fun and humor gets lost in translation when presented to us movie-goers. Rent it. I feel compelled to mention based on some of the other reviews that I believe the movie is making fun of the depiction of the mentally challenged in cinema as a whole and not directed at the mentally challenged in real life. That's how I took it, but I've been wrong before.

Total waste of money and time. Ben Stiller has turned into a prime contender to make his name synonymous to cliché.

Pros: none

Cons: life's way tooooo short to waste on this movie
