Expensive and terrible service

by eastcoastcritic

My friend and I went here for "Happy Hour". The outside are is great and when seats opened we sat at one of the large tables with the fire in the center. Ordered cocktails after a very long wait and 2 appetizers. I noticed that all the servers that work there are sloppy and overweight, Mmm. Our food arrived and the short rib lettuce cups came with 3 tiny pieces of meat, less that 3 oz. The quesadilla was tasteless with the cheese tasting like plastic. We ordered some hot sauce to cover that up and 10 mins later it arrived. We had to flag down our "server" for the check and waited over 20 mins to pay but she never came by. I had to get up and go to the server station and deliver my credit card. Would never go back but I did meet a very handsome man.

  • Pros: Atmosphere
  • Cons: Valet slow, service terrible, food not good, very expensive

X-cellent

by lifeserial

X marks the spot at this lounge, club, bar in Century City. The design is pretty flawless, in my opinion. Whether you're looking for a romantic corner to snuggle your date and sip a cocktail or in the mood to mix and mingle with strangers, X Bar can accomodate both. I especially dig the posh outdoor space; they have cabanas, super comfy seating around multiple cozy firepits, and cushioned benches galore. At night, with all the towering buildings lit up, the atmosphere is very cosmopolitan cool. Although, inside, the color-shifting bamboo-lined walls of the main bar create an equally pleasing ambiance. And since the space is so big--with lots of curtained off nooks, deep booths and dark corners--hipsters and yuppies can comfortably coexist. The only downside is that X Bar is not really on the way to anywhere, eliminating the idea of bar-hopping safely. Get your group to meet you here and plan to stay.

Nice and Relaxing...but find parking elsewhere

by lush76

The place is very chic. Decent prices considering where the bar is located. I went there after work and had nice, relaxing evening. The outdoor patio is spacious and has lots of comfy places to sit. Never been on a weekend but I'd imagine it'd get very crowded. My only complaint is the parking situation...it's expensive and it took forever for the valet to get my car.

I loved the vibe!

by ashke_180

Century City needed a new venue like this! A cool, chic place to retire to after work, or hang out on Saturday, if your local. Easy access, great food, cool music. Drinks are fun, although it takes you some time to get through the whole menu. If you like variety, it's definitely your gig.

  • Pros: Cool, close, great food, nice vibe

X BAR PUTS CENTURY CITY ON THE MAP FOR BEST TRENDY YET COMFORTABLE BAR /LOUNGE

by beachrep

As an employee of one of the top talent agencies that has recently moved into Century City I was a bit concerned that the chain restaurants in the Westfield Mall would not quite cut it for Happy Hour as compared to many well known establishments we were accoustomed to in Beverly HIlls.

My worries and stress faded quite quickly as I sipped an Orange Drop Martini while sitting outside under the palm trees by one of three cool Fire Pits as I watched the Dodgers on the best ever big screen outdoor screen I have ever set my eyes on.The food ROCKS as well. The crab dip has got to be the best in town.

SERVICE and STAFF are awesome. X Bar manages to be trendy yet totally comfortable with none of the "please let me be on the list" stuff we all have gone through in this town.

Just okay.

by ychoi12

My coworkers and I work in Century City and were excited to see a new after-work place open up. We walked over to X Bar last night, and unfortunately, it wasn't as wonderful as I thought it would be. The decor was beautiful so we had high hopes, but when we sat down we were told that the happy hour is only until 6pm (who can make it anywhere by 6pm??) and that it's a measly 15% off drinks. Okay, that's fine since drinks are an average price of $11-12 for a cocktail. Nothing too exorbitant. We ordered a round, cheersed each other and took a first sip. Vitamin Water has more flavor than my drink did! Everyone's drink was incredibly watered down. Mine was so watered down I drank it in one continuous sip with no problem. Maybe this was just a new place trying to get find its feet, or maybe it was just last night, but I doubt any of us will go back until we hear that the drinks are worth the cost. And the worst part is that they were playing a Britney Spears album the entire time we were there, from start to finish.

  • Pros: The decor was beautiful, the waitress was incredibly nice, friendly and helpful
  • Cons: You're paying more than $10 for (basically) water, awful music.
