Great food. Fine Persian Cuisine. I also followed the "Honest" persian. Food was great, and the live music was great. I will be coming back for more.
Terrific Restaurant in Houston
by Art14414
This place is fabulous. I was turned off by previous review, but I decided to follow Mr. “Honest” Persian and try it out myself. As I said it was a great and enjoyable experience for my family. No comparison between quality of food served here and other places mentioned in the “honest” review! I do not intent to knock any other restaurants down, but there is a big difference between other places mentioned and Garson! Quality of food and service is not comparable. Ambient is terrific and as I said before not comparable with fast Persian food being served by all others!

Worst Persian food in Houston
by Honestpersian
By far the worst Persian restaurant to eat at and to enjoy your evening in Houston!!!!! We were the only other table in the restaurant on a Saturday night and our party consisted of 22 people. The food was cold! The waiter was brought from an old farm from Iran that was not accustomed to American dinning and service! Also there was this young waiter that was unbelievably rude. Management was even worst! Although there was this one lady that tried to help but still could not deliver! They do have live music EVERYOTHER Saturday. I honestly believe they hire those musicians to lure people in for the music just to make enough money to pay the bills; I mean why else would anyone want to pay $20-30 a plate for cold food and the worst service ever!!! You can read this review and think its fake but I personally ask you to take your family there and come back and leave a review based on your experience! I was a waiter for 3 years and I promise that I never treated people with such respect that Garson offered. Please do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time, money, and evening there because you will be back here doing the same thing I am doing the next day! Keep in mind that there are other Persian resturantes that are way cheaper and have excellent service such as Kasra, Hafez, or Darband (similar to garson but not as bad).
Food Fresh from the Microwave

My stew, which came highly recommended, tasted like prepackaged Dinty Moore, and had soggy shoestring fries sprinkled on top. The lamb shank was mostly fat, and also came in a watery Chef Boyardee sauce. Most of the menu seemed more Italian than Persian -- while I'm not at all familiar with Persian food, I frequently eat Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, and this was nothing like either. The atmosphere and service felt very upscale, but this was a wasted effort given the quality of the food. The best part of the experience was the flatbread which comes free with every meal. Anything served in a sauce is not a high point for this restaurant -- I can't speak to whether the grilled/skewered meats are any better, but I will not be going back to find out.
Best Persian food in town!

This place just reopened. It has been a favorite of mine for many years. Looks like they did a total remodel. Very upscale and the food was even better than ever. The grilled meats and basmati rice are to die for! I usually eat so much of the homemade pita that I can't finish my food. The portions are large and the prices are very resonable. The service is friendly .
Flavorful, tasty, nice ambiance

Our party of four arrived at apx. 8 p.m. on a Satuday night for dinner. Reservations suggested, as this place was hopping! Service was wonderful. The bus boy did a great job of refilling water glasses, keeping the table clean, etc. The food choices are great. I love the vegetarian choices. There is live "Persian" music. The crowd was multi-generational family groups, which is so nice to see. Everybody was dressed in little summer dresses and looked pretty. Just a great overall evening.
- Pros: Healthy, tasty food
- Cons: lack of parking

I had been going to Garson ever since they opend up in late 80's. The food and service used to be great. However since the unfortunate death of Mr. Yadi, the service and food have taken a nose dive. I had eateh there a few times and I would get sick after but recovered fully. However, my last experience was the worst ever in my entire life! I had a gift certificate without an expiration date and serial number on it. The management was not taking it and coming up with several lies. First, a very rude and impolite lady without any knowledge of customer service (possibly the acting manager) said the certificate was too old- I told her there was no expiration date. Then, she said they are going trough bankruptcy and the "judge" and "lawyers" have told them not to take the certificates, I reminded her that as long as they are operating under the same business name, then they are obligated to take it. Then, she said- a few months a go a manager had stolen a bunch of these certificates and my certificate could be one of them. I explained that I don't care about their internal problems and it was very rude for her to tell me the certificate was stolen specially when the certificates had no serial number and she wasn't able to determine which ones were stolen if any! Eventually, after repeating to them about their obligation they took the certificate however she didn't bother to apoligise or give me the chane or add additional items to my order since my purchase was less than the certificate value.
This lady has total lack of customer service, bad attitude, ugly demeanor. I will not recommend going to this place. I have already told my friends who like my self had been a long time cutomer of Garson.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Customer Service
A mortifying dining experience
by thora
My husband and I invited a group of 14 of our closest friends and relatives for Iftar ? the breaking of the fast during Ramadan, when Moslems fast from sun-up to sun-down. My husband called two days ahead, requesting the restaurant's private room and called again before arriving to request that everything be ready when the guests would arrive -- tables set, dates, water and fruit juice at each place and soup served immediately. He ordered the restaurant's most common menu item ? mixed grill, served with rice. The restaurant had a big sign in front announcing its "Ramadan Dinner," but the entire dinner was an embarrassment. Nothing he had requested came to pass. There was no service, to the point that I came close to getting up and clearing plates myself. The food dribbled in so slowly that a plate served to one part of the table would be totally gone before the next people received anything. It took about 15 minutes to get the juice. The dates arrived about an hour after we'd been there. We didn't even a attempt to get water glasses filled. We all had eaten so much bread that we were almost full when the first part of the main course arrived. Two guests had to leave before the rest of the mixed grill made it to the table. It was unanimously agreed by all to forgo dessert. I feel we owe our guests an apology for putting them through the ordeal of Iftar at Garson. They advertised a Ramadan Dinner. They know what a Ramadan Dinner is. They knew we were coming. The restaurant wasn't crowded. If they couldn't accommodate us, they should have taken down their sign and told us to make arrangements with another restaurant.
How was the food? I was so upset by the time it arrived that it could have been raw liver.
As we left, the "waitress" had the gall to suggest to my husband that he should have left a larger tip. He had left a little over 10 percent, which we know is low for a party our size. He was generous to leave anything at all.
- Pros: Food was okay
- Cons: Service was awful

Persian dishes including seasoned lamb, chicken and quail are served up in this casual eatery rich in atmosphere.
