My husband and I returned to Ruth's Chris after almost a year recently. It was just as delicious as I remember! The lobster bisque and seafood gumbo were out of this world. I got the filet with crab stuffed lobster..and it was divine. The filet was cooked medium and almost melted in my mouth. The crab stuffed lobster on the side was also fantastic. I highly recommend Ruth's Chris, although it is pricey. Everything is a la carte, and it's not cheap. It is a special occasion must! My husband and I have both been to Fleming's a few times as well as Stoney River and Mortons. We feel Fleming's is also very good, but Stoney River could not possibly compare to Ruth's Chris. The downside to Ruth's Chris is the parking - there is none. You have to valet or park at a meter somewhere on West End. The seat we were given was also direclty in front of the swinging doors of the kitchen so it was very noisy and people were constantly walking by. Although I thought this was not a bad thing because we would always have our glasses full, alas, my husband ran out of water halfway through his steak and had to stop someone to ask to refill it (a real downer at such a nice place with that many staff).

Pros: Steak is hands down, the best in Nashville

Cons: Parking....or lack thereof

In response to Tennessee Phil's comments: I am a regular diner at Ruth's Chris. It is better than ever! Obviously the previous diner does not really dine there as often as he claims because Ruth Fertel passed away about 5 years ago now. He would have noticed food quality change 4 years ago if he had dined there often. They changed from Franchise to Corportate 2 years ago and I have seen an improvement for sure! Also, how can you change your opinion on one steak. Animals are unpredictable in quality from time to time, they are not all clones. If you didn't like your steak, tell them, they will get you another one right away. Don't keep it to yourself and then complain about it later. Also, they DO still have the head of lettuce, its now called "the wedge". It is iceberg lettuce. Of all the places in Nashville, Ruth's Chris has the best service staff in town, bar none!!! They are not only professional, but have great personalities...no robots here! I agree with TN Phil on one respect...it can be cold in here. Go there for yourself and see who has it right.

Pros: Great Food. Great Service. Nice ambience

Cons: Cold inside from time to time

When Ruth was alive and running the chain, my family and I used to dine at this restaurant about once a month. It was expensive, but the food was good. However, our last visit which was after Ruth died was terrible. I ordered a filet mignon which was of poor quality; I ended up with a pile of fat and gristle on my plate when I was finished. I used to order their head of lettuce salad, but that had been removed from the menu and replaced by a dainty salad of field greens. The dining room was so cold that everyone in my family ended up putting our coats on. The service was slow, and the server was indifferent. We have not been back.

Cons: Expensive, poor food quality, indifferent servers

We ate here for a business dinner. My husband loves steak and has had better steaks at Longhorns he said. (and he aint no country boy either..) I had chicken and it was just ok. The salad was gross, I dont like weeds in my salad. and the basil lemon salad dressing tasted like mayonaise. We spent $260 for 4 people no drinks. I left feeling sad and ripped off, wishing we had went to McDonalds and spent the weekend in Atlanta for that much money!! I probably would reccommend to a friend to save their money..

Pros: Romantic for sure! Our waiter was very distracted though..

Cons: TOO Much money! This place will leave you feeling unsatasfied and broke.

My girlfriend and I decided to celebrate Valentine Day Dinner and avoid the crowds. The appetizer of crab stuffed mushrooms were AWESOME, beefsteak tomatoe salad was excellent and some of the BEST blue cheese I have ever had. We both had the filet and they were some of the best steaks we ever had. They are serving a banana cream pie that is to die for. This was the absolute best pie with a white chocolate filling that you could not believe was chocolate. The staff was extremely efficient, no rush (we were there for a little over 2 hours) and JP (our server) will be requested by name the next time we visit.

Pros: Excellent food and service

Cons: Drinks a bit pricey

Love the house wines that they choose. Some of the sides are boring, but overall, this is a great restaurant. I would reccommend it to all. Kim, the longtime bartender is AOK

Pros: Portions are for three meals, so ask for the doggy bag.

Ruth's by far has the best steak in Nashville. It's a little more $$$, but it's worth every penny!!!

The steaks are great. The sweet potatoe casserole is wonderful. This place is a aliitle pricy, but it was well worth it. When you order your steak order it meduim. I don't normal order my that why, but their meduim well loses the flavor and it makes it really tough. Make reso's online it is so simple. One complaint, all but one of their appertizers are seafood, which for a girl that is allergic to seafood made me aliitle upset.

Cons: Not easy to find if you don't valet

BBQ Shrimp. Lobster Bisque. Filet. Bread Pudding. These are my favorites! Don't overlook the rasberry sorbet, it is a very close second! Oh and did I mention the lobster bisque??? It is the best!!

Pros: Food, service, lobster bisque

Cons: A little pricey

Look Good

It's not on the menu, but consider ordering your steak "Oscar style," which means it's topped with asparagus, crab cakes and bearnaise sauce.
