Queensryche (Tate, third from right)
Queensryche frontman Geoff Tate is most widely known as the voice of his band's breakthrough ballad/ lullaby "Silent Lucidity," and is the creative force behind "Operation: Mindcrime," a concept album universally acknowledged as a hard rock classic. When he's not belting out vocals, he may be loosening his belt at these favorite restaurants...

At Home: Seattle

  1. Place Pigalle Restaurant and Bar

    81 Pike St, Seattle, WA
"This is my favorite restaurant. They have the best mussels anywhere, and I would also recommend the beet salad. There is a wonderful view, and an expert staff and unbeatable wine list!"

  2. Brasa

    2107 Third Ave, Seattle, WA
"I love to eat here late. They have great atmosphere--Not overly chic, just great food and great wine."

  3. La Fontana Siciliana

    120 Blanchard St, Seattle, WA
"Best Italian food in the city, specializing in Sicilian food and wine. Hidden out of the way on a side street, the staff are all extremely knowledgeable and will suggest Italian wines for the dishes. This is very reasonably-priced, and possibly one of the most romantic places in the city."

  4. Blue C Sushi

3411 Fremont Ave N, Seattle, WA
"Grade one sushi on a conveyer belt. Usually the conveyer belt places have less than the best sushi--Not so at Blue C. This is a fun place to have really great sushi."

  5. Bors Hede Restaurant

10320 Kelly Rd NE, Carnation, WA
"This is more than a meal, this is an experience, but I really go for the food. I like the authentic--and I mean authentic--medieval cooking. It is so good, and it comes with great entertainment. This is quality, nothing cheesy or put on."

  6. The Herbfarm Restaurant

14590 NE 145th St, Woodinville, WA
"This is a complete evening. You should arrive early and they will walk you through the garden and show you the herbs they will be using in your meal. They will let you taste and touch all of them ahead of time, and explain what each course is, as well as the wine they have chosen for it. The food is different from most anything else out there. It's a very beautiful setting, with an exquisite meal."

On the Road

  1. Tojo's

    1122 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC
"I have eaten sushi around the world, and this is IT! The freshest sushi with the most creative preparations. I actually don't order, and just let Tojo create a fine meal."

  2. Aujourd'hui

    200 Boylston St, Boston, MA
"One of the best meals that I've ever had, and in unbeatable ambience. Fine French cooking, perfect meal in a perfect setting."

  3. Brown Sugar Cafe

    129 Jersey St, Boston, MA
"This is, hands down, the best Thai I've ever had. With a strong and extensive menu featuring fresh, top quality ingredients and many unusual items that can't be found on most Thai menus--as well as all of the run of the mill Thai fair--you really can't go wrong here. Though you can pretty-much bank on being happy with whatever you order, the chili salmon is my personal favorite. A word of advice, though: There are two locations, and this one is better than the other one."

  4. Frontera Grill & Topolobampo

445 N Clark St, Chicago, IL
"Who'd have thought that the best Mexican would be found in Chicago? Lo and behold, it is. Frontera is not the usual, run of the mill Mexican, nor is it Tex-Mex. Their black beans are off the map, the atmoshpere is quaint and romantic, and the wine list is exceptional."

  5. Greenwood's

    1087 Green St, Roswell, GA
"For Southern fare that is unparalleled, Greenwoods is beyond compare. The menu is about half a page in length and consists of less than ten choices, all of which are a recipe for bliss. Hearty portions of meatloaf, chicken with plum sauce and pot roast with brocolli casserole are among the few. The atmosphere and service is so personalized and quaint, you feel like you are in somebody's dining room or kitchen."

  6. Maggie's Wild OATS Cafe

217 W Main St, Hamilton, MT
"This is one of the best places for breakfast anywhere, offering a creative selection with fresh ingredients. Once there were two of us in the restaurant enjoying a wonderful breakfast in where we thought was the middle of nowhere, and in walks Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson. I guess this is the place to go eat with the rock crowd!"
